The last season was just completed with a flurry of beautiful weather, rain for the rivers and the first significant snows in the Andes. During late March and the first half of April, fishing was “epic”, in the words of one of our long-time guests (see a few of the photos below!).
Now we’re focused on the next season. We will open one week earlier in November and stay open one week later in April, due to the growing interest for the “early and late” season time frames. So our dates for the 2016-2017 season will be November 6 – April 15.
November and April are wonderful times to visit Patagonia River Ranch. Fishing in Northern Patagonia in November and December is the equivalent weather-wise to June in the Rocky Mountain region of the U.S. March and April are the equivalent to September/October here in the Rockies, with the foliage change, cool mornings and warm afternoons. December, January and February speak for themselves as the peak of summertime.
Each week throughout the season, our guests will have the opportunity to fish the famous rivers of Northern Patagonia – made famous by iconic fishermen including Mel Krieger, Lefty Kreh, Billy Pate and Roger Haig-Brown, all from the bygone era.
You’ll arrive at the ranch and unpack your bag only once while having the opportunity to fish 6 different rivers during your stay. With our central location, there won’t be any “lodge-hopping” every few days, living out of your suitcase, in order to fish these different rivers:
- Chimehuin (our home river)
- Collon Cura
- Alumine
- Caleufu
- Quilquihue
- Quemquemtreu
- Malleo
Non-Fishing Activities
In addition, for those who don’t want to fish every day (or maybe not at
all?) we offer the following options each day (all included in our standard rate).
- Horseback riding at the ranch or in the Lanin National Park
- Mountain bike riding
- Hiking in the Andes
- Lake kayaking
- Shopping/artisan visits in nearby resort town of San Martin
- Relaxing in the garden environments of our ranch
- Cooking classes
Patagonia River Ranch is one of the most beautiful places in all of South America, and it would be difficult to imagine a more idyllic vacation destination. Each year, 70% of our guests are clients who have visited us before… and that tends to tell the story of Patagonia River Ranch in a single sentence.
We hope we’ll hear from you soon. We are receiving a lot of requests and new reservations, so we suggest making your reservation very soon in order to receive the week of your choice.
